International Erasmus+ Meeting "Transition from STEM to Robotics"

The first meeting of the Erasmus+ project "Transition from STEM to Robotics" was a great success. From June 24 to 28, participants from Malta, Turkey, Poland, and Portugal gathered in Bielsko-Biała to explore the world of STEM and robotics together.

Day 1: Integration and Sightseeing

The meeting began with integration sessions and an overview of the five-day program. Participants had the chance to tour Bielsko-Biała following the trail of iconic characters Bolek, Lolek, and Reksio, which allowed them to get acquainted with the local culture.

Day 2: Programming with Micro:Bit

On the second day, participants delved into the world of programming using Micro:Bit V2. Utilizing MakeCode, they learned the basics of programming and tested their projects on the Micro:Bit simulator, discovering the potential of microcontrollers in education.

Day 3: Robotics and Trip to Inwałd

The third day started with robotics workshops. Participants explored the VEX Robotics 3D simulator and STEM Robotics Detect Colours technology, which enables robots to recognize colors. Later, the group visited Inwałd, where they toured the "World of Dreams" Miniature Park, a medieval settlement, and took part in an interactive dragon-waking adventure. The day ended with fun at an amusement park, fostering integration and friendship building.

Day 4: Maze Challenger and Reflection

On the fourth day, participants faced the challenge of programming a Maze Challenger robot. The task involved designing a robot capable of navigating a maze, enhancing logical thinking and teamwork skills. Afterwards, they completed a Google form to assess their newly acquired skills and reflect on the project. The highlight of the day was the certificate awarding ceremony, recognizing everyone's dedication and effort.

Day 5: Ecology and Robotics

The final day focused on ecology in the context of robotics. The "Ecologically Robotic" workshops showcased how technology can support sustainable development. A particular highlight was the "Plastic is Not Fantastic" session, during which participants created t-shirts from plastic bags, learning about recycling and creative waste management.

Conclusions and Future Prospects

The LTTA project "Transition from STEM to Robotics" was a unique opportunity for exchanging experiences, learning, and building international friendships. Participants from Malta, Turkey, Poland, and Portugal gained new skills and inspirations to apply in their home countries. Once again, the Erasmus+ program proved that education knows no borders and that international cooperation enriches everyone involved.
